Suffering Email Problems? Please note that there are restrictions on the size of emails you may send or receive. Click here for details. If you have problems with email then you should try and determine where the problem is before contacting us. Is your internet connection working? Please use your browser and try and connect to various websites. Has your system (network, computer, internet connection, ...) been updated or changed recently? Has the problem only started to happen since the change was made. If so, then please review the changes to your system. If you can visit sites like google.com or tesco.com but not your own website it probably indicates that our servers are experiencing problems. Please wait an hour and try again. You can confirm this by pinging our pop3 mail server. This is easier than it sounds. For Microsoft Windows use, go to the Start button, then Programs, then Accessories and select Command Prompt. In the command prompt enter the command Ping mail.rdahosting.co.uk If the server is working and accessible then you should see four reply messages. If not you will be told that the destination is unreachable. If it is unreachable it might be caused by problems with your network, your internet connection or, indeed, our servers might not be working correctly. You can do a similar action with the smtp server. If you are using our smtp server then enter Ping smtp.rdahosting.co.uk If you are using your ISP's smtp server then you need to find out its name and use that. For example: Ping smtp.eclipse.co.uk If you are able to visit websites including your own, then it may be that our mailservers may be temporarily unavailable. Please leave it for one hour before trying again. If the problem persists, what isn't working: 1) Cannot Send EmailEmail is sent through an SMTP server. Typically we suggest that you use the SMTP Server of your ISP. If this is how your system is configured then you need to contact your ISP as we cannot help. However sometimes it isn't possible to route emails out ( that use your domain's name as part of the email address) through the ISP's smtp server as it looks like they check the email address is one of theirs! In that case you will need to use our smtp server. Sometimes you may be using our SMTP server, smtp.rda.hosting.co.uk. If this is the case please contact us. Due to port blocking by some ISPs (e.g. BT and AOL but may be others) you may need to change the from port 25 to port 2500 if you use our smtp server. 2) Cannot Receive EmailEmail is received from your mailbox via a POP3 server. Our mail server is mail.rdahosting.co.uk 1) Check that email is reaching your mailbox. Arrange for email to be sent to you from another system such as Microsoft's hotmail. Allow a few minutes for the email for the email to arrive then login to your mailbox using http://webmail.rdahosting.co.uk/. If you cannot login to your webmail then this indicates our servers are probably suffering problems so please wait an hour and try again. If you can login to webmail and the email just sent to you is not in your mailbox then please contact us. If your mailbox is in your mailbox but you are unable to download it to your PC (using Outlook, Outlook Express or another email client) then it appears that you have a problem with your system. 3) Cannot send or receive EmailAs this typically involves our mail servers (for receiving emails) and your ISP's servers for sending email it is likely that the problem with your system. |
